Hall Road Rangers reclaimed join top spot in the NCEL division one after a resounding 4-1 victory over Yorkshire Amateurs on Tuesday evening. After the disappointing defeat to AFC Emley at the weekend Manager Dave Ricardo was looking for an improved reaction from his squad against a well-disciplined Amateurs side.
“I said after Saturdays defeat that we would play worst this season and get 3 points and last night was a case in point.” Said Ricardo “To the lads credit the level of tempo was good throughout. It was great to see Jamie Reeson back on the scoresheet and Forrester complete 90 mins.”
“Dane Mortimer and Captain Ash Dexter weres very good throughout the game, strong and good in possession.”
“Yorkshire Amatures have been on a good run recently so to win in the end comfortably was a relief.”
Things didn’t look like they would head that way however when on 30 minutes a cross fumbled by Adam Stevens in goal led to a tap in for Freddie Swales and a 0-1 lead. With Rangers pressing hard to get back on level terms a well worked move down the wing found Jamie Reeson in space who slotted home just six minutes later to pull things all level.
A second deflected Reeson goal just seven minutes later put Rangers blue noses in front and put them on track for the win. Steven’s made up for his earlier error in the second half with several good stops. This was crowned when Joe Cooper, on as a sub, latched onto a ball and slotted home to make it 3-1 and give rangers breathing room. A late headed own goal from Freddie Swales when under immense pressure from Ash Dexter made it 4-1 and sealed the win for the boys in blue.
“We have a massive game now for the players, management team and the club on Saturday in the FA Vase.” Concluded Ricardo “The players will get a well-earned rest and recharge their batteries in time for the game”.
Rangers will travel to Silsden in the FA Vase second Round Qualifying looking to progress their good run of form. Kick off will be 3pm at the Keighley Road ground.
