Hall Road Rangers go in search of their first league double of the season when they travel to face Yorkshire Amateurs tomorrow.
Having already recorded a 4-1 victory over the Leeds based side in late September, Dave Ricardo’s side are full of confidence. Following Wednesday night’s 2-0 win over Brigg, they have returned a points haul of 20 out of a possible 27 since the last encounter with Amateurs, to re-ignite their playoff charge after falling behind due to their success in cup competitions.
The win in late September featured a brace from Jamie Reeson who is in good form after returning from injury and should feature for Rangers once more. Yorkshire Amateurs are a side that have performed well in recent years in terms of league position but have lacked consistency this time around so far as they lie in the lower half of the division.
Hugely dependant on the goals of prolific striker Joel Hughes, they have struggled to replace the former Ossett Town striker’s potency as he has spent the last couple of months on the sidelines.
Hall Road also have a good record against Yorkshire Amateurs in terms of previous meetings in the NCEL First Division losing just once in the last five meetings. Rangers remain the only team in the entire NCEL to have scored in each of their league games this season. Tomorrow’s game sees a busy period edge closer to becoming more relaxed as in the last two months Hall Road have had to squeeze in fourteen matches, something which Rangers manager Dave Ricardo has been forced to shuffle his pack on more than one occasion. “I don’t like to use the term rotation but with the number of games we’ve had the lads have fully understood that some may not play every game and it’s all about a bigger picture.”
“If we are to achieve our goals this season, it will be as a squad of players, and not with just the same eleven. We are lucky to have a group that take on board the majority of what myself and Bill (Gill) say and expect of them and their attitude has been superb, and have stepped up when required.” Ricardo admitted.
Rangers will kick off at 3pm at Bracken Edge.
