Match Report: Hall Road Rangers V Bridlington Town

Written by

Hall Road Rangers went head to head with Bridlington Town on Tuesday evening at Haworth Park scrapping out a 0-0 draw with the Seasiders.  The lean and mean looking Bridlington Town took on the newly restructured Rangers with both sides putting on a good show in front of the home crowd.  Under the tenure of David Ricardo the home side appear to be gelling nicely and after their opening fixture to North Ferriby appear to be putting some good football together.

“I am really pleased with the work ethic, shape and desire from the side tonight.”  Said Ricardo “That’s the fittest Bridlington side I’ve seen pre-season for a while so to be able to match them and have the chances to win the game fills me, and the coaching team with optimism.”

“Can we get better?  For sure.  Especially going forward with quality but that will come over the next few weeks but when I see the likes of Scott Phillips, Chris Spinks and Jamie Reeson defending from the front it means that there is a deep desire for the unit as a whole to do well and helps the defensive lads keep the clean sheet.”

Rangers stood strong allowing Bridlington few chances and with Steve Janney putting in an outstanding performance between the sticks they kept their clean sheet.  Janney, out for most of last season with a broken hand performed well, saving a softly awarded penalty from Joel Sutton and diving at the feet of Brett Agnew in a one on one.

Rangers now have to turn their attention to lower league opposition in the form of Humber Premier league side Sculcoates Amateurs.  Sculcoates will be no pushover however and will prove game opponents for Ricardo’s men.  The game will be at Haworth Park with a 1pm kick off time.
