Hall Road Rangers travelled the miles up the A1 to West Allotment Celtic in the FA Vase on Saturday looking to progress through to the second qualifying round. A goal apiece form Jamie Forrester and Chris Spinks was enough to secure the win and push Dave Ricardo’s team through to the next round of the prestigious cup. They will now have to travel and face Silsden AFC in the next round after they beat Knaresbrough Town 2-1.
Rangers started the game brightly with an early goal from Jamie Forrester, he pounced on a poor pass to race through on goal and slot past the stranded Celtic keeper. End to end stuff for both sides with each having their own fair share of chances resulted in just a 1-0 lead at half time.
The scoring was rounded off by Chris Spinks who pounced on a shot saved off the line to double the travellers lead and secure progression.
After the game Manager Dave Ricardo was delighted with the progression “ This was a fantastic result based on a solid defensive display from the team.”
“Everyman deserves all the great credit for a fantastic performance against a good team in an away game” “Also its great for the Chairman who I know is extremely happy with performances so far this campaign”
Next up for Rangers is another away day at Knaresborough Town in the league on Tuesday evening. Kick off will be 7:45pm at Manse Lane.
