St Mary’s College Continue to Dominate on the Tables

Written by

St Mary’s College started the school table tennis season off in style winning the Under 13 Boys and Under 16 Boys ESTTA Hull School Games Team Table Tennis Championships. On an afternoon of great competition and sportsmanship, some fantastic table tennis was played.

In the Under 13 Boys competition, four teams from St Mary’s College and one from Hymers College competed. In a great competition, St Mary’s College A, won all their four games to regain the title that they had lost last year to Malet Lambert. The strength in depth was apparent as St Mary’s College B finished comfortably in second place. There was a titanic tussle between St Mary’s College C and St Mary’s College D who had both won one game each before they met. A 4-4 draw saw St Mary’s College C win by 12-8 on game count back and secure third place. St Mary’s College D finished in fourth place and Hymers College in fifth.

In the Under 16 Boys competition, St Mary’s College A began the defence of their ESTTA National Team Title by comfortable winning the Hull Schools title beating St Mary’s College B and Kelvin Hall School.

St Mary’s College will have eight teams competing in the forthcoming Humber School Games Team Table Tennis Championships in the Under 13 Boys, Under 13 Girls, Under 16 Boys, Under 16 Girls and Under 19 Boys age groups on Thursday 24th November 2016 and Friday 25th November 2016.
