St Mary’s College Girls Win Under 14 County Cup Final

Written by

St Mary’s College Under 14 girls football team built upon their seasons’ success winning the Humberside Schools FA Cup Final after reaching the last 16 of the ESFA National Cup. St Mary’s proved too strong for a spirited South Hunsley team. South Hunsley took the lead after St Mary’s had two chances through Bruna Marques and Olivia Cane with a neat finish across Alice Giles from 12 yards out. St Mary’s fought back when Libby Gray dribbled through the defence and finished from ten yards out to draw level. South Hunsley went ahead again when a ball was deflected in from a corner.

St Mary’s College established parity again when Olivia Robertson was fed through to finish neatly. Within minutes Bruna Marques beat the offside trap, her shot was saved by the goalkeeper but she tapped in to make it 4-2. Amelia Hall added a fifth just before half time.  In the second half, St Mary’s proved too strong with goals from Olivia Cane, Isabella Longden, Amelia Hall and Bruna Marques completed the scoring.
